A Day at BQA

Every part of the day has a purpose.

From morning assembly to Quran, academics, salah, and outdoor play—see how each day builds faith, confidence, and knowledge.

From drop-off to pickup

A rhythm children can rely on.

Structure helps students feel secure and ready to learn. Individual attention helps teachers respond to each child within that rhythm.

    Arrival

    A warm, settled start

    Parents drop children off at our secure entrance. Staff welcome students and help them prepare calmly for the day ahead.

    Morning Assembly

    A new student leads each day

    Students take turns leading the assembly. This daily responsibility builds confidence, presence, and public-speaking skills.

    Morning Learning

    Quran and Islamic studies

    Until noon, students learn Aqaaid, Akhlaaq, Fiqh, Islamic History, Hadith, Dua, Quran memorization and recitation, and Tajweed through guided instruction and the Tas-heel Series.

    10:15 a.m.

    Snack and reset

    A short break gives children time to recharge before returning to focused Islamic learning.

    Noon

    Lunch and outdoor play

    Students eat lunch and enjoy our rear outdoor space under staff supervision, with separate areas and activities for boys and girls.

    Duhr

    Worship with practical leadership

    Students pray together. A different child gives the adhan and another the iqamah. Older students are trained to lead salah and Jumu’ah.

    Afternoon

    Ontario curriculum academics

    Students study Math, Science, Language, and Social Studies, with special focus on language development, critical thinking, and meaningful participation.

    3:00 p.m.

    Pickup or after-school care

    Parents collect students after a full day of learning. Families who cannot pick up at dismissal can ask the school office about after-school program options.

Academic Resources

Strong teaching supported by strong tools.

BQA uses Nelson Mathematics resources, IXL for interactive learning through our smart boards, and several other well-regarded curricula and instructional resources. Materials are carefully selected to meet—and wherever possible exceed—Ontario curriculum requirements.

A structured Islamic curriculum

Faith, knowledge and character—taught together.

BQA uses the Tas-heel Series as a core resource for Islamic Studies. Its age-appropriate, structured lessons help children build sound Islamic knowledge and practise it through their daily manners, worship and choices.

Learning materials are provided: Children receive the appropriate Tas-heel books, along with a Qaida and a Quran with Tajweed.

The BQA Quran Pathway

Proper Tajweed comes before progression.

We care more about a sound, lasting foundation than rushing a student ahead. Every new child is assessed carefully, and advancement requires a Quran teacher’s approval.

    Rigorous entry assessment

    Every incoming student is assessed individually in Qaida, letter recognition, pronunciation, fluency, recitation, and Tajweed.

  2. 02

    The right starting level

    Teachers place the student where the foundation needs attention. Previous completion does not replace BQA’s own assessment.

  3. 03

    Foundation without shortcuts

    Students practise Qaida and proper Tajweed until errors are corrected and the required standard is demonstrated consistently.

  4. 04

    Teacher-approved progression

    Only after a BQA Quran teacher confirms readiness does the student progress to Juz Amma and then Quran recitation and memorization.

Our commitment

Correct pronunciation, proper Tajweed, and quality recitation are essential at BQA. There are no shortcuts, even when taking additional time is the better choice for the child.

Close progress monitoring

Parents should know how their child is progressing.

Unlike many elementary settings that rely mainly on informal observation, BQA uses regular quizzes and tests together with mid-term and final examinations. Teachers follow results closely, identify gaps, and provide individual support.

Small groups give teachers room to truly teach the child in front of them.

Our relatively small class sizes allow trained staff to listen carefully, spot learning gaps, challenge students appropriately, and give direct support.
